Born 1923 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, American actress and singer Anne Jeffreys had her her first movie role in I Married an Angel (1942), then in the horror comedy Zombies on Broadway in 1945 and starred in Riffraff with Pat O’Brien two years later. She also appeared in a number of western films and as bank robber John Dillinger’s moll in 1945’s Dillinger.

Titanic and its sister ship

As the Titanic was sinking into the North Atlantic, 24-year-old stewardess Violet Jessop helped passengers into the lifeboats and rescued a baby whose parents were nowhere to be found. She soon made it into a lifeboat and survived the tragic ordeal. Four years later, Jessop was working for the Red Cross aboard the Britannic, the Titanic's sister ship, when it sank in the Aegean Sea. She had to jump out of her lifeboat as it was being sucked into the ship's massive propeller in order to survive.

Punjabi and Romanian

It may come as a surprise to many, but Punjabi has in its vocabulary over 2000 words which are nearly identical to Romanian. While many will simply attribute to this to both languages being being part the Indo-European group of languages, the relationship is far deeper and more interesting than this. The earliest clue that we have to work with actually comes from Greek Historian Herodotus, who stated that the only people nearly as numerous than the Indians were the Thracians. The Thracians just like the Indo-Aryans of North India had numerous tribes, and one these tribes settled Romania. Yet, a similar or related tribe also settled in the Punjab region of India in prehistory. The idea did not seem far fetched to Ancient Greek historian Strabo.
